Temporary transport plan variation process for fuel supply impacts
The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations has introduced a temporary process for PALM scheme employers seeking transport plan cost variations where fuel supply issues result in higher transport costs.
This process outlines to request approval to temporarily vary transport plan costs. Approval must be obtained before any changes are implemented.
This is a temporary operational measure and does not change employer obligations or worker protections under the PALM scheme.
What you need to know:
- PALM scheme workers must continue to receive a net financial benefit.
- Any transport cost deduction must comply with all relevant legal requirements, including the Fair Work Act 2009.
- Any deduction must be agreed to in writing by the worker and principally benefit the worker.
- This temporary process applies only to transport cost changes resulting from fuel supply issues.
- All other approved transport plan requirements remain unchanged.
