Family accompaniment pilot - for workers
Workers_FA

What is the family accompaniment pilot?

The family accompaniment pilot will offer up to 200 long-term Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme workers the opportunity to bring their families to Australia.

Participants will be selected through 2 selection processes. The first selection process has concluded. The second process will be open to eligible, long-term workers from Fiji, Kiribati, Timor-Leste, Tonga and Vanuatu.

The second selection process will open on Monday 27 May 2024 with expressions of interest (EOI) invited from employers.

Employers assessed as eligible through the EOI process, will be able to submit application forms on behalf of interested workers in July 2024.

To participate in the family accompaniment pilot, employers, workers and families must meet certain eligibility criteria.

Living in Australia is expensive. This calculator can be used as a guide to help you decide whether your family would be able to afford it.

Next steps and how to apply

If you and your family meet the relevant eligibility criteria, the next step is for you (PALM scheme worker) to speak to your employer to see whether they are also eligible, and willing to support your family’s application.

If so, they will first need to submit an EOI via the PALM scheme website between Monday 27 May and Friday 7 June 2024.

If your employer does not wish to participate, you will not be able to apply.

The formal application process will open in July 2024. If your employer is eligible for the pilot, they will have to complete an application form. You will also need to download a copy of the worker application form (or ask your employer to print one for you - available on the family accompaniment - employer page). Once you have completed the worker application form, give it to your employer to submit as part of the formal application.
